BILL ARMSTRONG INSPIRED

This project is based off the work of Bill Armstrong. Armstrong is a New York based fine art photographer who is known for his blurred colour photographs. I was inspired by the way Armstrong heavily blurs his images but the objects are still visible like your still able to recognise that the silhouette is a human figure or a stamp. I also like how he positions the person in abstract positions like they're in action to enhance the shape. He also makes the model wear bright clothing as he likes to use a lot of colour and blend all the colours together. I did this in my work by making my model wear a yellow top and stand in front of a green background as this colours bend nicely. However Armstrong also likes to do the opposite by using contrasting colours so that the colours go against each other and don't blend as easily, I did this when taking photos of my objects i used a warm toned ball of wool, then contrasted it by using cool toned lighting which made the background a blue. We also visited the John Hansard gallery in southampton that had an interesting exhibit on that included lots of colourful lights one included a continuous flashing circle that reminded me of the work of Bill Armstrong.
